Make Your Own Wedding Photo Book at Shutterfly.com

In the spirit of last week’s blog about photo booths and what they can add to a wedding experience, we thought we would also point out one of our new favorite DIY tools for making those pictures you or your professional photographer takes for you, really work for you and it’s a company called Shutterfly.com.  It’s an online photo management software shop which can help you create that one-of-a kind guest sign-in book for your wedding, among many other possible photo album projects, or perhaps you may find interest in creating stationery applications for invitations, save the dates, or perhaps for your menus!  Who knows?

We recently created our own photo album which we use at the Engaged Library to introduce ourselves to prospective brides looking for wedding planners when they come to the Engaged Library.  We really enjoyed all the features of using Shutterfly.com which was very user friendly, allowed us to load our pictures in from the many weddings we had on line direct from our computer, we added various backgrounds, captions, colors, and jazzed up the presentation with different fonts, and even added various picture frames and arrangements.  The variety of the choices available really allowed for a lot of customization.

 So this led us to see the great potential for brides and grooms to really create from their engagement picture sessions, or from pictures of their life, a composite book which they could then make very personal, with captions, backgrounds, etc.  This book could then be displayed as the guest sign-in book at their wedding.  This would allow guests to actually sign personal notes, on pages that might have very significant meaning, for both the guest and the couple, rather than just a line with NAME, DATE, WHAT CITY, you get the picture.  You can also then make additional copies for family members.

We can see through the use of the other menu items and features Shutterfly.com offers the ability to implement through the use of pictures, other applications throughout other parts of the wedding.  One just needs to use their imagination.  Because they offer a “filmstrip” feature this ideally lends itself well to creating a great application for a “Save the Date” photo montage or a modern invitation theme for the crafty bride and groom. 

 So get your “camera” on and have some fun!
