From Project Runway to the local aisle in your home church or local hot wedding destination, color choice plays a HUGE role in the overall “ah-ha” moment when the bride walks down to meet her groom or when the couple takes that first glimpse at their fabulously decorated reception hall. So every year at this time when fashion week begins in New York, the new “colors” for the next year are announced.
Here are the new colors as presented by PANTONE as they respond to what they saw presented on the runway at New York fashion week just recently.
Turquoise, Tomato Puree, Fusion Coral, Violet, Tuscany, Aurora, Amparo Blue, Pink Champagne, Dried Herb, and Eucalyptus. On the surface, it would appear these are not really, “new” colors however, it would appear that the new trend for wedding applications here would be the color combinations the experts see coming.
In general the concept is that in 2009, the greens, lilacs, and pastels we were seeing will be fading and the idea is to be bold with color. One combination mentioned is to pair Pantone Turquoise #15-5519 with Eucalyptus #15-0513 which acts as a “gray” neutral. The turquoise is very bold and definitely “pops” off the gray shade base provided by the Eucalyptus. It is obvious to us that many decorative style points could be achieved throughout the planning process in the area of favors, sashes on dresses, hair accents, chair accents, invitations, programs, etc. the list in endless using the play of these two colors similar to what has been achieved in this photo below
with a champagne color as a base and the blue tone light as an accent color.
In the area of boldness, consider an all “coral” wedding color scheme! This is a trend we are seeing, think monochromatic on steroids! So think of all the subtle shades of “orange” or coral you could achieve in your florals and really amp up your look! Consider this montage from Better Homes and Gardens of all “orange/coral” wedding décor.
Lastly, black, like in 2009 is still in vogue, but some of the experts are saying we may see some red wedding dresses as well. If that is too bold for you consider it as a primary accent and run with it! Whatever colors you choose, just color your world your way!
